MURDERED BY CASTRO’S REGIMEN During the 51 years of Castro’s regime, political prisoners have been subjected to very harsh conditions within their sentences. They have been forced into labor camps, tortured, denied medical attention, beaten and even been killed by guards. Twelve of them have resorted to hunger strikes in demand of humane treatment and have paid the price with their lives. Orlando Zapata Tamayo is one of the Cuban political prisoners who has died in a hunger strikes from 1959 until present time.
